National Extended Certificate in Sport

The BTEC Extended Certificate is a vocational course which combines theory and practical methods of learning in a range of different units, including Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being, Professional Development in the Sports Industry followed by optional units from Sports Leadership, Fitness Testing, Sports Psychology, and Sports Performance. If you love sport and want to develop your skills and knowledge for the possibility of pursuing a career in the sports and leisure industry, then this course is for you. It contributes towards part of your programme of study, allowing for other A levels or vocational courses to be studied at the same time. The course combines up to date knowledge with the right balance of practical learning and assessments delivered flexibly to develop skills needed for a sporting career or further education. The course aims to provide an enriched learning experience that develops skills and qualifications for employment. Learners will complete a career support workshop and optional courses including Level 2 Sports Leaders Award, umpiring awards, residentials, sport therapy courses, and other trips/visits that link to the course content.
