Designed for those students who want to pursue a career in agricultural engineering, this course examines a wide range of agricultural machinery and provides skills which can be transferred into more mainstream engineering. You will benefit from our industry experienced tutors and gain an understanding of the skills needed for technical support in the engineering sector. By the end of the course you will have developed a number of practical skills and be well equipped to influence engineering in the future. Course content Year 1 includes: Land-based engineering operations - service and repair engines and components; Understanding and servicing mechanical power transmission systems; Understanding health, safety and welfare in the land-based engineering workplace; Service and repair hydraulic systems and components on land-based equipment; Understanding land-based vehicle chassis systems; Understanding and working with land-based vehicle engine technology; Undertake land-based workshop practice; Refrigerant handling; Undertake land-based machinery operations; Land-based engineering operations - perform thermal joining processes; Service and repair of land-based air conditioning and climate control; Functional skills. Year 2: Understanding and servicing land-based harvesting machinery (cutting and lifting); Service and repair electrical systems on land-based equipment; Working with land-based diesel fuel injection systems; Business management; Understanding and working with ground care equipment; Undertaking specialised land-based workshop practices; Undertake and review work-related experience in the land-based industries; Undertake an investigative project; Maintain electronic control and monitoring systems on land-based equipment; Functional skills. Successful students can progress onto a degree level course in agriculture or other related subjects. Alternatively they may wish to enter industry.
