The 2 year linear A level course for 2017 is currently under revision, however, our current areas of specialism and success will inform specification choices. These include the study of the thriller genre in film and the production of a cinematic opening sequence. Likewise popular music promotion will remain a key part of the curriculum, including the production of a music video, advertising campaign and album cover art. Other areas of investigation will include television drama, social media and the magazine industry. From a theoretical perspective students will also study key media concepts that include audience, represenation and genre, as well as more advanced concepts like post-modernism. With links to Bournemouth Media School the curriculum at Burgate will remain diverse and forward thinking with an emphasis on creativity and the use of technology.
