The new A Level courses will bring out in a more explicit way the instinctive knowledge and understanding you already have about language but also offers the opportunity to explore the study of English Language both as a medium of communication and as a topic in its own right. It places emphasis on the ability of students to pursue lines of enquiry, debate different views and work independently on research and creatively on aspects of language in use. This includes an opportunity to reflect on your own use of language; the context in which you use it and the diversity that exists within language as well as how and why language changes. The study of English Language develops many transferable skills which are highly sought after by universities and employers.
