This subject offers students the opportunity to experience and develop an interest in a variety of roles within sport such as performer, official and coach, and then be able to specialise in one. This qualification looks to equip students with the skills and knowledge required for higher education and/or the world of work. The Advanced Level course builds on the work studied at GCSE to enhance knowledge and increase understanding of the factors that affect participation in physical education. The course will address current contemporary topics such as the use of ergogenic aids, technology and the increasing commercialism of sport. The course also includes applied physiology, skill acquisition and opportunities for participation.
