Computer Science is a vast subject. This course will focus on programming, building on from the GCSE Computing with an emphasis on the importance of computational thinking as a discipline. Computational thinking is a kind of reasoning used by both humans and machines. This course is not about learning how to use tools or just training in a programming language. Instead the emphasis is on computational thinking. There is also an expanded Maths focus within the course. This course prepares you for degree level study in: Information Systems, Computer Systems, Biometrics, Games Programming, Network Computing, Multimedia Computing, or Software Engineering Web Development, to name just some of the many specialised degree titles available. It requires practical, logical, problem solving and creative skills, and careful reasoning.
