Course Aims This 10-week course combines art history and painting techniques to develop an understanding of the Impressionist Movement and celebrate Impressionism. Impressionist painting has been described as small strokes of colour to be mixed by the eye of the beholder. The art history sessions will concentrate on: Pissarro Monet Renoir Degas and Cassatt look at how their work developed their techniques and how the masters are still influencing artist in the modern day. Sketching and observational drawing both inside and outside the classroom will help you develop an understanding of composition movement and emotion Colour theory techniques and the use of complementary colours will help you develop an understanding of the effects of colour and light in nature.By the end of this course the aim is to bring out your inner master. · Have an understanding of the Impressionist style· Have an understanding of colour theory the use of complementary colours and how to use bold colour to great effect.· Be able to use observational drawing and painting techniques to put movement and emotion into your picturesYou should have an interest in having fun and enjoy having a go at something different.
