You will learn atomic structure, bonding, rates of reaction, enthalpy and entropy, crystallisation etc. as well as gaining experience in the laboratory where you will develop your skills to identify and synthesise compounds. At AS you will study the periodic table, acids and bases, groups 2 and 7 elements; energy, bonding, intermolecular forces, electrode potentials, rates, entropy, polymers, transition elements and organic synthesis. Through this study, you will build a picture of the substances of the world and their interaction at the atomic level, which leads to the development of new materials such as polymers, plastics and drugs. Units include: Atoms, Bonds and Groups, Chains, Energy & Resources, Practical Skills in Chemistry, Chemistry, Rings, Polymers and Analysis and Equilibria, Energetics & Elements.

Name: Two Year GCE A Level in Chemistry A Qualification title: GCE A Level in Chemistry A Qualification type: GCE A/AS Level or equivalent Assessment A Levels are assessed by a combination of an assessed practical and coursework (unit 6) and terminal written exam papers. The coursework comprises 20% of the total mark, and consists of a series of 9 experiments from which your best 3 marks are chosen.
