English and maths are available to students who do not have a grade C in these subjects. As part of the GCSE programme students also take a GCSE in classical civilisation where you learn about ancient Greece and Rome and their culture, history and literature. You will concentrate on two main texts and take a written exam at the end of the year based on the texts. For the science programme, you will have hands on experience in the laboratory where you will develop your skills to identify and analyse solutions, organic compounds and foods, grow bacterial cultures, test plant tissue for DNA and look at disease and homeostasis. In physics you will experience physics through theory and experiments involving electricity, circuits, use of the spectrometer etc. You will also learn about atomic structure, bonding, materials and combustion.
