Course Description: During this course you will develop your employability skills - skills for seeking, applying for and being interviewed for work or training. This is a two week part-time course for Work Programme clients, leading to the Open Awards Level 1 Units in Career Planning and Preparation for Work. Candidates referred by Job Centre Plus will need to attend a pre-course assessment session. You may be entitled to fully funded provision subject to meeting the following criteria: You are on Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance (Work Related Activity Group), OR Are unemployed and on a state benefit (where a monetary grant is paid to you) and you need skills training to enter employment Please bring photographic proof of identity to your first session. If you don't have photographic ID please bring two other forms of identity e.g. Bank card, Bank statement, utility bill, Council tax bill Attendance at ALL sessions is essential. If you miss a session you may be asked to leave the course. What will I learn? Update your job search and job applications skills Reasons for selecting jobs Evaluate your current skills and personal attributes The skills and attributes needed for different types of work and plan how to develop them (including input from National Careers Service and Bury Adult Learning Service) Plan and prepare for successful interviews and improve own interview performance
