Glass Making

UPDATED 20161005 12:04:04

We will be exploring the unique wonders of working with glass in many different ways on this new exciting course. We will start by first learning how to cut glass using specialist glass cutter, braking pliers and tile cutters. Next we will move onto making mosaics with glass and mirror tiles - and then we will experiment with glass painting using fired-on glass enamels, iron oxide and silver stain. Following that, we will explore kiln-formed glass, moving from basic fused glass using coloured glass frit and metal inclusions, to embossing and slumping. Finally the course will culminate with glass etching and engraving. The projects will include a mosaic coaster, hanging or hotplate, a glass-painted panel, a fused coaster, wall-hanging, dish and piece of jewellery and finally an etched drinking glass, mirror or photo frame. Something for everyone – from beginners to improvers – just come along, have fun, be creative, learn new skills and best of all, take home some beautiful creations of your own.
