Spin, Dye, Weave and Knit Workshop

Spinning, dyeing, weaving and knitting, are ancient crafts and have a long history. This course will enable you to explore all those aspects of the crafts which are as important to us today as they were to our ancestors. The course is designed for anyone, from complete beginners to those with previous experience, who would like to build on their knowledge in a creative atmosphere.

Entry requirements

Please bring with you a notepad and pen and any suitable wools/yarns. Some will be available for you to purchase from the tutor at the first course session the cost of which will depend on your individual project; your tutor will advise you. Parts of a fleece can be purchased for approximately £2.00. The following equipment is available for your use during course sessions: looms, carders, spinning wheels and warping frames. The tutor will help you select suitable designs for your projects and will advise about choice of colours. You will be shown how to research ideas and stimulate inspiration and receive guidance and support to help you complete your project.
