This course aims to provide you with an understanding of the uniformed public services sector where there will be chance to investigate career opportunities in the uniformed services and prepare for a uniformed service interview.  You will develop an understanding of the personal commitment and fitness requirements needed to be employed in a uniformed service role as well as an understanding of the importance of health and hygiene for those in the uniformed services.  There will be the opportunity to understand and develop the skills and qualities needed to work in a range of uniformed services e.g. teamwork, communication, problem solving, navigation and drill. The objective of this qualification is to help inform and prepare you for the uniformed services. It will enable you to prepare to make a application or provide a basis for further study and progression towards the entry qualification of a specific service.

Name: Public Services Level 2 Qualification title: Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services (QCF) Qualification type: Other regulated/accredited qualification Assessment You will be continually assessed through practical observation and written assessment. The qualification is graded between pass, merit and distinction. Directed self-study will be required.    A completed portfolio of work will be handed in and assessed during and at the end of your course. Entry requirements

There will be a requirement to pay £200 for a variety of compulsory course related expeditions and outdoor activities. You will also require some personal items e.g. waterproof jacket and trousers/rucksack etc. for use during some of the expeditions and activities. There will also be a requirement to purchase a uniform at a cost of approximately £150. This will be available for purchase from the college shop. Financial assistance may be available for learners who qualify. Learners should contact Customer Services at the college for further details and a bursary application form. Learners will be required to undertake a minimum of 30 hours of work experience with the British army. This is also a physically demanding course that will require continual fitness training and testing.
