Exercise - Keep Fit - For the Retired

This is a keep fit course for those who want to keep their body as active as their mind! Designed with the older learner in mind, this course enables you to exercise and stay mobile.The aim of the course is to improve fitness, co-ordination, strength and mobility. You will work within your own range of ability in standing positions/with chair support and sitting on chairs. Exercises are aimed at improving cardiovascular fitness and coordination, hip, knee and shoulder mobility as well as strengthening the abdominal muscles and the upper back. You will also improve your balance and posture. You will work on stretching exercises for the whole body, particularly the lower back.This course has been designed for those who can no longer do floor work. A variety of equipment eg soft balls and balloons will be used and music to enjoy and support the rhythm of the movements.Our courses build on past learning, week by week, to develop new abilities. You will find your own progress much easier if you attend every lesson.
