What is it? A dynamic and energising course preparing you for a career in this exciting industry. We combine theoretical units with practical performance and advanced technology in your learning and assessment. What will I study? A dynamic and energising course, Sport and Exercise Science will prepare you for a career in sport. With a variety of units ranging from the study of Biomechanics, analysing the movement of the body throughout different sporting skills also when studying Sports Injuries you will explore the causes of injuries and rehabilitation process. On this course you will get hands on with equipment commonly used in sport and amongst Sport Scientists as well as conducting your own scientific research using state of the art equipment on university visits. You will experience outstanding teaching and assessment with the use of iPadês to further enhance your learning experience with us. Assessment. 3 of the units will be externally assessed via an in-class assessment with the other units being assessed through coursework, however in this coursework you will be assessed in a variety of ways, with the use of iPad technology, for example making posters, practical assessment making videos and creating books to name a few. Where does it lead? With strong links with higher education institutes we tailor our learning and assessment methods to meet the requirements of university ensuring that our students are successful when progressing to university including competitive courses such as physiotherapy and sports therapy. Our employer links ensures that our students are exposed to the sports industry and gain the vital experience required to be successful in employment with students gaining employment in a variety of apprenticeships within Youth Sport, Coaching and Blackpool Council. Our students have also seen success being appointed as a Physiotherapy Assistant with the NHS following completion of the course.
