What is it? The perfect course for anyone who has a passion for popular music and the music industry. You will study solo and ensemble performance, as well as song-writing and production. What will I study? During this two year course you will develop a wide range of relevant music industry skills, including: Live performance including developing as a session and band musician. Composition (popular music and composing, using technology). Events management. Audio/MIDI sequencing and music production. Music theory and aural skills. The music industry. History of popular music and society. Production techniques. Assessment. Assessment will mainly be through internally assessed coursework. Where does it lead? The course will provide you with the skills needed to succeed within the music industry or to progress into higher education. The majority of our students go on to study at leading universities in the areas of popular music and music technology, including Leeds College of Music, University of Liverpool and Salford University. Many students then pursue careers in music performance and production, musical directing, teaching, events management, artists' management and composing.
