What is it? Physics encompasses the study of the universe from the largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic particles and is crucial to understanding the world around us, inside us and beyond us. What will I study? In your two year course you will study a range of modules including: Measurements and their errors. Particles and radiation. Waves. Mechanics and materials. Electricity. Further mechanics and thermal physics. Fields and their consequences. Nuclear physics. Turning points in physics. Assessment: 100% examination. There is also a requirement that students on the A-level programme complete a minimum of twelve practical activities throughout the two year course. Where does it lead? Due to the valuable employability skills it gives students, Physics leads to a diverse range of careers. These include: aerospace and defence; education; energy; engineering; instrumentation; manufacturing; oil and gas; science and telecommunications; IT and consultancy; the environmental industry; financial services; the legal sector; transport and utilities.
