What is it? A creative, exciting and inspiring programme that develops a wide range of production skills including: recording and mixing techniques; composing using technology; synthesis and sampling. What will I study? First year. Producing a sequenced performance of a piece of music. Recording performances by college bands and musicians. Arranging music into new styles. Second year. Creating a sequenced backing track with live vocals. Producing complex recordings of college bands and ensembles. Composing music to a variety of briefs. Assessment: 70% coursework and 30% examination in the first year. 60% coursework and 40% examination in the second year. Where does it lead? There are many related opportunities in higher education, and many career possibilities including: sound engineer, record producer, teacher and composer.
