Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying Construction

This course will give you the opportunity to achieve the Bricklaying Diploma Level 1. Whilst primarily aimed at school leavers, the course is open to anyone who wishes to gain employment in the Construction Industry and achieve a nationally recognised qualification in bricklaying. It is now a requirement that Construction NVQs are supported by on-site evidence. This means that only those gaining relevant experience can achieve an NVQ. The Diploma Level 1 will give you the training and skills required to enter the Industry. This course is as flexible as possible with the majority of time spent in a practical environment. The course delivery will include: - Demonstrations. - Practical workshops. - Theory. - Assignments. - Learning packs. - Project work. Students will have the opportunity to gain a wide range of practical skills both at College and on building sites in real working conditions. Areas of work and knowledge covered will include: - Half and one brick walling. - Garden walls and copings. - Attached and isolated piers. - Blockwork. - Cavity walling. - Wall ties and insulation. - Jointing and pointing. - Damp proof courses. - Forming and bridging openings in walls. - Basic access platforms. - Handle and store materials. - Mixing mortars. - Levelling and setting out basic buildings drawings using a wide range of different tools. - Plant and equipment. - Functional Skills.
