You will perform various practical techniques and learn about their application in industry, medicine and research. You will visit places, carry out field work, listen to visiting speakers and learn how to organise and prepare yourself for the world of business, industry and higher education. You will study compulsory units plus a number of optional units. Compulsory units include: Fundamentals of Science; Working in Science; Scientific Investigations; Practical Techniques; Perceptions of Science; and Using Mathematical Tools in Science. Examples of optional units include: Physiology of Human Body Systems; Astronomy; Biochemistry and Biochemical Techniques; Energy Changes; Sources and Applications; Chemical Practical Techniques; and Human Regulation & Reproduction. The units offered will depend upon demand each year and this will be reviewed annually. You will also take one additional subject with this course.
