Photography includes a strong emphasis in specialist image-making skills and techniques, opportunities for developing a personal style and guidance in producing a unique portfolio of commercial as well as artistic images, based around several units and projects, including areas such as documentary, darkroom, portraiture, fashion, advertising, etc.Photographic assignments are set designed to reflect workplace situations, activities and demands. Units are supported by specialist photography units such as location techniques, studio techniques, darkroom practice and image manipulation using computer applications.On the successful completion of these units, you will have the basic building blocks to further your skills in year 2, where you will have time to explore in more depth specialist specific areas of photography like documentary, advertising, fashion, etc. You will work on more extensive self-directed projects with a view to building a portfolio for university or job interviews whilst preparing for a final year exhibition.
