Level 3 Access to HE Diploma Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Professions

UPDATED 20161003 08:00:23

The Access to HE Diploma is a standard, nationwide qualification at Level 3, which is designed to enable learners from non-traditional educational backgrounds to go to University. The Diploma is made up of a number of units which result in a total of 60 credits, 45 at Level 3 and 15 at Level 2. The Level 3 Nursing and Midwifery programme is available as daytime or evening study, requiring either 12.5 or 6 hours of teaching time respectively. Both programmes incorporate modules on Human Biology, Health Studies and Study Skills. Modern nursing is no longer involved with just demonstrating conventional care skills, and also requires having a broad understanding of the social aspects of health such as education, wealth and lifestyle. To this end the programme has been designed in conjunction with input from local universities to provide you with a balanced course which gives you an excellent knowledge base on which to build when you move on to higher education. The units studied vary slightly according to whether the day or evening programme is being studied, but both routes cover core units in Human Biology and Health Studies The Level 3 programme is very demanding and requires a substantial amount of home study. We recommend that you should be able to allocate about one hour of private study for every hour spent in college, and this will certainly assist your progress through your time at Tameside College.
