This course is ideal for those wishing to change career or be motivated to return to work. This course offers the opportunity to develop skills in hairdressing, providing the foundation for a range of work opportunities in an industry that is both interesting and varied. The scheme conforms to the requirements of the National Council for Vocational Qualifications (NCVQ). This course is available for ESOL students with level 1 English. Students follow the City and Guilds of London Institute (CGLI) and HABIA (The Hair and Beauty Industry Authority) National Vocational Qualification in Hairdressing. The NVQ 2 qualification entitles the holder to entry as a State Registered Hairdresser according to the Hairdressing Registration Act 1964, providing the requirements of the Hairdressing Council are met. This course is ideal for those wishing to change career or return to work. Units covered are: Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation Advise and consult with clients Shampoo and condition hair and scalp Cut hair using basic techniques Style and finish hair using basic techniques Change hair colour using basic techniques Promote additional products or services to clients Set and dress hair Optional units are available, for example: Ful salon reception duties Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work Additional optional units may be available, for example: Basic barbering techniques Cosmetic make-up Manicure and pedicure Additional costs will be involved.
