Travel and Tourism covers a wide range of employment opportunities in the fastest growing industry in the UK and includes jobs in airlines and hotels, with tour operators and travel agents or involving tourist attractions, conferences and events, hospitality and entertainment. This type of work can offer exciting careers to those who like meeting people, want more than a routine job and are interested in travel. This course is aimed at providing students with the vital skills needed to enter employment within the industry. The course provides you with an excellent grounding in the skills and knowledge needed for a career in any of the areas listed above. You will study a range of different units, all aimed at equipping you with the vital skills that employers are searching for. This may include: Investigating Travel and Tourism The UK as a Destination Customer Service in Travel and Tourism Longhaul Travel Destinations The Business of Travel and Tourism Preparing for Employment in Travel and Tourism You will also have the opportunity to take part in a UK residential visit and become involved in employment opportunities with Springboard UK. A three week work placement is mandatory and takes place in June/July. The BTEC is broadly equivalent to one A Level. Students may also study a range of additional qualifications (subject to meeting certain criteria). This could include: NCFE Certificate for Airline Cabin Crew (leading to an interview with Monarch airlines) NCFE Award in Resort Representatives (leading to an interview with Thomas Cook) BTEC Award in Workskills Level 3 Worldhost Principles of Customer Service
