E508 - This qualification will benefit anyone who prepares and serves food as it provides students with a good basic understanding of nutrition that will enable them to plan well balanced meals that will have a positive impact on health. But also will benefit anyone who is interested in eating healthy and a balance of good health and wanting to gain a better understanding about healthier foods and special diets. Successful completion of the training programme and assessment will enable students to understand: The relationship between health and diet Individual nutritional requirements of different groups of people Specific standards and recommendations that apply to catering for certain groups How food preparation and processing affects the nutritional value of food The significance of information on food labels Course duration: one-day programme. This qualification introduces candidates to: Introduction to nutrition Balance of good health Diet and health Nutrition requirements of different groups Catering for different groups Food processing and fortification Food Labelling The eat well plate Assessment method: practical assessment plus an examination consisting of 30 multiple choice questions.
