This A Level Further Mathematics course, taken alongside A Level Mathematics, is intended for able and committed mathematicians who really enjoy the subject. It's an increasingly popular subject and provides a gateway to many competitive degree courses, including Maths, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or any other university course with a high mathematical content. This course extends the pure maths, statistics, and mechanics covered in A Level Mathematics and introduces many new concepts. You will complete the modules required to achieve A Level Mathematics and then take three additional modules for AS Level or six additional modules for A Level Further Mathematics. This will give you the opportunity to study a broader range of mathematical areas, as well as extending your knowledge of pure mathematics, statistics, and mechanics to a deeper, more advanced, and more interesting level. You will be assessed through six written examinations (C1, C2, S1, FP1, M1, and D1) in the first year and six additional, written examinations (C3, C4, S2, and three chosen from FP2, FP3, M2, M3, and D3) in the second year. During your lessons you will develop a variety of skills including the abilty to solve problems and communicate your ideas to others. You will work in groups as well as on your own and you will use ICT and graphical calculators to assist you in your learning. In addition you will develop the ability to work independently and organise your time.
