The course is intended to provide you with an educational foundation to pursue a career relating to the care and management of animals, their environments and related industries. If you are successful you will be able to move onto employment or apply for a degree or Higher National programme. The significant science content of the course will enable you to apply for a broad spectrum of higher education programmes. Examples of courses are: Veterinary Nursing, Animal Behaviour & Welfare, Equine, Agriculture and Animal Science.

Performance in laboratory skills and the ability to work safely are also assessed. You will be assessed using discussions, presentations, role play, essays and scientific reports. Each assignment is graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. You will receive a grade for each unit and three final overall grades at the end of the course. Entry requirements

It is vital students are willing to work with a variety of animals, indoors and out, in all weather. Wellington boots, or other waterproof footwear, and a weatherproof coat will be needed.
