The Subsidiary diploma is a very practical course. It explores many aspects of music and music technology from sound recording to acoustics and performance It consists of 1 mandatory unit, 1 specialist unit and 4 optional units. It is equivalent to 1 A level. Students that are determined and well motivated may take the 12 unit course to 2 a levels but this will require more independent learning. This course will suit students who can sing or play a musical instrument and will enjoy exploring music both practically and through research. The Subsidiary diploma in Music you will study a variety of diverse units such as solo and ensemble performance, world music, popular music in practice & song writing techniques.
