This subject is suited to students with strong written and spoken communication skills who enjoy reading into and exploring language use in all forms from adverts to poetry to journalism. You should have an interest in the relationship between language and social attitudes and values. Many English language students go on to study subjects such as linguistics English media journalism law business and psychology at university. English language study prepares you for careers in areas such as law advertising marketing PR journalism education and writing and production for TV radio and film.
