One off 4 hour workshops with the aim of engaging hard to reach learners and to widen participation in learning by encouraging people to use their interests to return to learning. The workshops would focus on productive ways of using resources that are readily available in the community. For example working with Soton Scrapstore and community artists. It would provide an opportunity to design and make something and provide the satisfaction of producing an article such as a bag made out of a pair of jeans. Following these workshops learners will have acquired new skills and considered further opportunities for learning. As the aim of these workshops is to reach people who may not have had any interaction with education for some time we would aim to run workshops in areas of the city where there is little local provision.
