Train & Grow programmes provide training solutions that help businesses to improve the inclusivity of their services and accessibility of their products. Whilst concentrating on supporting the use of spoken and written word (the preferred choice of language used by 8.5 million deaf and hard of hearing people in the UK) the course also supplements studies in sign language, deaf awareness and the communication needs of deaf blind people.This course focuses on: Developing awareness and skills of how to remove barriers faced by deaf people in accessing information and services. Developing practical skills in communication tactics leading to increased confidence when meeting, working and or dealing with deaf people in all contexts of work leisure and even family relationships. Developing an awareness of the technical aids available and the basic maintenance required. By the end of the course you will have an increased understanding of the barriers to effective communications between deaf / deaf blind and hearing people and will be practised in the tactics that can be used to overcome them, confidently. No previous skills or knowledge are required. For service providers and businesses who know the importance of ensuring their products and services are accessible and inclusive to all customers by giving front line staff (and all staff) essential knowledge and practical skills to effectively communicate with customers who have varying degrees of hearing loss.This workshop is also perfect for new business owners or people considering starting their own business.For individuals who need to acquire practical skills to assist them to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, family and friends who have varying degrees of hearing loss. You may wish to consider Introduction to British Sign Language, or other courses offered by Skills&Learning or other local providers.
