With the other learners in your class, you will receive instruction on all practical skills and underpinning knowledge in each of the following areas: Set and dress hairColour and lighten hairAdvise and consult with clientsShampoo and condition hair and scalpCut hair using basic techniquesStyle and finish hair using basic techniquesDevelop and maintain your effectiveness at workYou will also do an optional unit from a choice including:Perm and neutralise hair using basic techniquesPlait and twist hairRelax hairTemporarily attach hair to enhance a styleFulfil salon reception dutiesCut hairstyles for menThere may be the opportunity to do further optional units once all mandatory units have been completed. There will be an additional fee for this. A placement in a salon is required, the equivalent of one day per week, for the duration of the course.  This a mandatory part of the course and must be started no later than one month after your course start date.  You tutor will give you advice about how to arrange a salon placement at your information session or at the start of your course.A variety of learning activities will be used on this course, including tutor presentation and demonstration, practical application of skills, individual and group work, discussions, Q&A, internet research, individual research and project work. Where relevant, your learning will enable you to develop skills and knowledge required for work. There may be vocational specialist guest speakers, or employers, invited to share their skills and experience. Regular home study will be necessary to successfully complete this course. You will be supported to develop good study skills.    Your tutor will also support you to improve your English and maths skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject. Name: Hairdressing - VTCT Level 2 Diploma Qualification title: NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Once completed, your work will be marked and internally verified. An external verifier from the awarding body will visit to review your work before you receive your certificate. As soon as your certificate is received by Skills&Learning it will be forwarded to you. Assignments/Course work: Your practical skills will be formally assessed throughout the course and your achievement will be recorded in a candidate logbook. You will collect a portfolio of evidence i.e. assignments and written test results, plus other suitable forms of evidence, for example witness testimonies and photographic evidence. Examination(s): There is no final written exam, but you will complete online or written tests on each topic as you progress through the course. You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop; this will be reviewed at regular intervals.
