This course gives you the additional skills to develop your career in the catering and hospitality industry both in a practical and theoretical sense. Subjects studied include: - Develop skills for employment in the industry - Health & safety in catering and hospitality - Food safety - Catering operations - Costs and menu planning - Prepare and cook meat',' fish',' fruit and vegetables',' rice',' grain and pasta',' soups and sauces',' and desserts. Functional skills of Maths and English are an integral part of the course. GCSE resits are available. You will be assessed through observation of practicals and via assignments',' short answer question papers and presentations for theory lessons. Practical skills will be tested under exam conditions. Entry Requirements: You will need five GCSEs',' including Maths or English at a Grade C or above',' or to have successfully completed the Culinary Skills Level 1 Diploma and have Maths or English Level 2 qualifications. Relevant industry experience of at least three years',' plus either Maths or English GCSE equivalent at C or above will be accepted. You will be interviewed. Career Options: After successful completion of this course you can progress to a relevant Level 3 course. Completion of this course can lead to a career of employment in the industry as a commis chef or chef de partie',' dependant on the type of establishment. Career options range from contract and institutional caterers in the workplace to pubs and restaurants',' star-rated hotels',' cruise ships and private service.
