Apprenticeships are very popular programmes that provide paid work-experience',' training and qualifications to people aged 16 and above. An Apprenticeship framework comprises of the City and Guilds level 3 Diploma (2357) and consists of; - Work-based units overseen in the workplace',' demonstrating practical skills linked to the job and recorded in a site log book. - Technical units',' achieved at College',' showing the theoretical knowledge relevant to the job . - Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS); they include creative thinking',' independent enquiry',' reflective learner',' effective participator',' self management and team working. In addition; - Functional skills',' which show competency in English',' maths and I.C.T applied to the workplace - Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) Qualification The qualification consists of 9 theory units',' 7 work based units and AM2 proof of competence. Entry Requirements: Applicants must be aged 16 or over. They must be employed in an electrical setting for a minimum of 30 hours a week (including work and College). Ideally applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above',' including Maths',' English',' ICT or science and /or level 2 functional skills in English',' Maths and ICT. All applicants will be individually interviewed and assessed Career Options: After you have successfully completed this course you can progress onto specialist short courses (inspect and test','17th edition regulations) and full-time employment. For apprentices aged 16 to 19',' no fees apply',' 19 to 24 fees may apply but there is an expectation that your employer will pay this contribution. For students aged 24+',' there is no funding available but fees can be covered by a student loan with possible assistance from the employer
