The introductory engineering course covers a wide range of basic engineering subjects which aims to give the learner a wide range of skills which will be used in their future careers. The initial mandatory unit covers safe working practices in engineering and gives the learner an initial understanding of the regulations used in the engineering industry. The other units which make up this qualification cover practical skills backed up by theory to give the learner some basic practical skills in engineering. The learner will cover machining, fabrication and fitting hand skills, giving them the chance to learn manufacturing skills as well as vehicle maintenance and pneumatics. The practical units are taught alongside maths, science and customer service to provide the learner with a sound basic knowledge of engineering principles.
