This course for people who want to work in a helping interaction, with a view to pursuing further study as a counsellor. It will help to develop self-awareness and provide a knowledge and understanding of the necessary counselling skills leading to further theory and practice. By the end of the course, learners will have covered the understanding of beginnings, middle stage and endings of the helping interaction. Students will also learn how to apply a repertoire of skills and to work with silence, have a basic knowledge of the models of counselling and develop a confidence that they can apply skills effectively.
