The course will cover the following subjects: ?Writing to describe and explain ?Writing to argue and persuade ?Writing to analyse, review and comment ?Writing creatively ?Structuring writing ?Improved spelling, punctuation and grammar ?New and developing vocabulary ?Structured speech ?Writing and speaking from alternate perspectives After completing this course learners should be able to: ?Write in a variety of styles for a variety of purposes ?Read, understand and respond to various types of writing ?Be aware of the use of correct grammar and Standard English in appropriate contexts. Learners are reminded that this is an academic course and they must allow time for private study and home assignments in addition to lectures. Learners must attend for a minimum of 90% to complete the course successfully.
