The course is unitized . you will be expected to complete three units which compose of a mixture of internally controlled assessments, similar to invigilated examinations and an externally assessed examination, as well as speaking and listening activities.

Name: English GCSE Qualification title: QT8 Qualification type: GCSE or equivalent Assessment Unit 1 . 'English Today' . internally assessed controlled assessment. You analyse six themed texts (three paper based/three onscreen) during the Autumn term in preparation for two 2 hour controlled assessment activities. Task 1 is a reading activity and you are expected to compare/explore two of the given texts. (1000 words) Text 2 is a writing task based on the theme of the texts, such as an article/script. (100 words). Unit 2 . 'The Writer's Voice' . external examination . 1 hour 45minutes. Section A . language task based on our set text, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Section B . writing task, for example a review, article. Unit 3 . 'Spoken Language' You will be expected to complete three speaking and listening activities, an individual presentation, group activity and role play. Spoken Language . you will provide a commentary (up to 1000 words) based on two examples of spoken language that you will have listened to and studied throughout the year . two hours controlled assessment. Writing activity . you will select a task from a choice of three, such as a speech, story or script and complete it in a contolled assessment session . two hours (up to 1000 words).
