What will I do on this study programme? During the study programme you will be planning and creating your own media products using a wide variety of media techniques, such as animation, filming, script writing, story boarding and researching. You will learn to research, get to grips with pre-production techniques and work on professional briefs. You will work directly with external media clients, providing valuable industry experience and you will learn the theory behind films and TV programmes, studying the way the media industry works, developing your ability to write and research through coursework. The study programme includes making and editing your own films, scripting, post-production, mastering the art of animation, creating 'idents' for television, examining and experiencing radio broadcasting, advertising and print journalism. Maths and English is a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable. How will I be assessed? External moderators and our tutors will assess your practical projects in studios and workshops and written assignments throughout the study programme. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Foundation Degree (FdA) in Photography in Practice, Graphic Design, Film and Media Arts Production or Contemporary Arts and Professional Studies and then the relevant BA Honours top-up. These are all at Weston College in partnership with Bath Spa University. Other university degrees in a media-related subject Job/career opportunities Work in the industry. Bristol is one of the biggest centres for TV & postproduction in the UK. Video production, broadcasting, editing, camera work, animation, script writing and post production.
