Introduction to Grafitti (E2)

The only way to learn to be a Graffer is by making lost of mistakes and meeting other graffiti writers. It usually takes an individual several years to be able to draw or paint to a standard that other graffiti writers would admire. This course will be the starting point of your career as a Graffiti Artist.Before putting pencil to paper the best way to gain a good understanding of how to draw graffiti is to know a little bit about it's history, so we will spend some time discussing the development of the medium. The more you know about the early days of graffiti and its origins the bigger the advantage you have when it comes to style and skill.Graffiti art movement is a sub-culture with it's own lifestyle. It's worth acknowledging modern graffiti culture is very different to how it was when it began in the 1970s and 80s it has grown and developed by always stay true to it roots.We will spend this course trying to discover your own style, everybody copies to start with, but what separates a really innovative artist from a mediocre one is their ability to develop ideas for their letters outside graffiti; from illustration, comics, art and the world around them. You can get inspiration from anywhere. In this course we will cover how to develop letter-form and draw the outlines of your letters. The reason graffiti appeals to the human eye is because the letters have energy and movement that resemble life and this evokes emotion in the viewer.In this introduction to Graffiti Course we will also work on your individual tag name.
