The syllabus teaches the accounting process from source documents to trial balance. It covers source documents, day books, cash books, the double-entry bookkeeping system, sales and purchases control ledgers, some VAT, bank reconciliation, petty cash imprest system and trial balance. This is a City and Guilds accredited qualification. There is a 1.5 hour exam at the end of the course, which is externally assessed. If successful, students will gain a City and Guilds 8991 Level 1 Certificate Bookkeeping and Accounting.The tutor will teach the theoretical aspects of the course, students will then be given ample time to practice the required skills and techniques.Students can progress to the C&G 8991 Book Keeping & Accounts Level 2 currently offered at Eastleigh College. Students may also wish to work as an Industry Bookkeeper.
