Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting - Day Release

The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting is the first of three levels of accountancy Apprenticeship. At intermediate level the aim of the Apprenticeship is to introduce the apprentice to basic accounting and finance skills and to provide a good foundation from which to progress to the advanced and higher level accountancy Apprenticeships. The Apprenticeship includes units relating to; processing bookkeeping transactions, control accounts, journals and the banking system, basic costing, working effectively in accounting and finance; computerised accounting. You will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Accounting awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). The AAT is an internationally recognised professional body. Unless exempt on entry, you will also achieve Level 1 Functional Skills qualifications in English and maths.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college one day per week during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. Assessment is continuous. The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 12 months. Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer. Intermediate apprentices, with support and opportunities in the workplace, can progress onto the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting. Other options include progression onto other types of Advanced Apprenticeships such as the Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration or the Advanced Apprenticeship in Management.
