What does this programme involve? -During this Sports Science Course you can progress through the qualification framework from the Subsidiary Diploma to the 90 Credit Diploma on to the Extended Diploma. This will depend on your entry grades and to how hard you work during the first year of the course. -This course is ideally suited for those with a genuine interest in sport science and fitness, but who also have the ability and determination to succeed on this academic course. We ideally ask that applicants are actively involved with a sports team or health and fitness club as this will enhance their research. There is an expectation for all sport students to take part in college sports teams and enrichment activities, before lessons and on Wednesday afternoons, throughout the year. -This course provides students with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. The course retains a strong academic base, whilst including practical units and modules. You will need to be confident, self- motivated and a good communicator as this will stand you in good stead for your research work as well as your work placement. -You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also learn about the employment area you have chosen, and you develop the skills you need to start a career. -Students will develop both knowledge and understanding of the sports and fitness industry as well as develop important practical and organisational skills to support their progression. -The course is made up of a variety of practical and theoretical units from the wide nature of this growing sector. Each unit is worth a number of credits which will make up your final grade. The course is made up of 18 units.
