You will participate in gym sessions together with the completion of theory work. Self study and research is required as part of this course. A pre-course telephone interview will be completed to identify that the course is suitable for you. The qualification is gained by successfully completing two externally marked theory papers on Anatomy and Physiology and Principles of Health, Fitness & Exercise. A practical assessment will be carried out and assessed internally. The qualification is at Level 2 and gives you 20 points on the Register of Exercise Professionals. A mix of theory and practical sessions will be used throughout the course. The theory element of the course covers anatomy & physiology, screening and safety and components of fitness. The practical element of the course consists of Cardiovascular and resistance/free weight gym training, inducting new clients into the gym environment. This will also include programme writing and adapting this to special populations. You will be taught how to deliver these components and gain the relevant knowledge to complete this highly recognised qualification within the fitness industry. A mix of theory and practical sessions including role play simulation and the completion of workbooks will be used throughout the course.This qualification could lead to a career in the exercise & fitness industry, with a view to working as a fitness instructor within the industry. Students may progress to a variety of advanced training including, Personal Trainer (Level 3), Circuit Training, Nutrition, Exercise to Music, Antenatal and Postnatal, Spinning (indoor cycling) and Kettlebell certificates
