The emphasis of this course is on developing and enhancing skills in writing, speaking, listening, reading, and general comprehension. You will study short extracts of 19th century fiction and different varieties of non-fiction from the 20th and 21st centuries. You will develop skills of analysing different audiences and purposes, tone, style and register as well as grammatical and structural features, vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling and punctuation. You will develop your skills in comparative analysis. You will practise creative writing linked to the 19th century fiction or picture stimulus. You will be supported to improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar.
