The course is for the more experienced artist who would like to extend their art knowledge and techniques. This is a structured course and it breaks down barriers between mediums. This is an enjoyable and relaxing course which can be extended into a pleasurable hobby. It can be tailored to suit your individual needs. You will learn about drawing, design skills and water-based Mediums. The course will give you the confidence to creatively explore a variety of mediums. You will develop drawing and observational skills through project based work. Contextual information on artists will support the learning of technical skills and processes. It will give you a good grounding of all technical skills in drawing, combined with water based and textural materials. Other technical areas covered will be mark-making, texture, tone, application of washes, proportion, composition, aerial/linear perspective, colour mixing (application and development), including exploring and investigating water based mediums & oil paints (using environmentally friendly mediums). This will cover the exploration of Pencil, Charcoal, Pastel, Watercolour Pencils, Pen, Ink and Wash Technique, Watercolours, Acrylics, Gouache and Coloured Inks. Students will learn about individual mediums as well as combining mediums together in a mixed media approach. The mediums can be explored on a variety of paper surfaces, canvas or recycled fabric material and stitching can be employed. Themes explored and developed will be taken from the external and indoor environment: observed studies of objects from natural to manmade forms, still life, flowers, plant forms, and their textural surface, landscape and seascapes, including the human figure, animals, buildings & interior settings.
