If you are passionate about the arts and have ambitions to forge a creative career in art and design then this course is for you. Whether you know or not what subject you want to specialise in the course provides the opportunity to explore a wide variety of disciplines so that you can make an informed choice about the specialism you wish to continue with. Whatever area you specialise in the course is for creative people who are highly motivated and passionate about wanting to create their own work. You will be inquisitive about things around you, willing to challenge accepted norms and will seek to invent and explore your own ideas. As you explore ideas you will be prepared to take risks and be stimulated by problem solving. You will learn about the different disciplines that constitute art and design with hands on experience of a range of techniques and processes relating to these different areas. You will be able to explore the creative process through the research and analysis of ideas and information, by experimentation with materials and techniques and through the development and realization of creative ideas. You will receive continuous feedback and participate in individual and group tutorials. You will be able to evaluate your own and the work of others and be able to develop and present a unique and personalised body of your own work. The course is organised into three progressive stages: STAGE 1 provides a broad introduction to the different disciplines that make up art and design. These are: Printmaking Painting Photography 3D Design Sculpture Textiles/Fashion Graphic Design Contextual Studies Visual Studies STAGE 2 you will elect to specialise in one area and develop ideas in depth in response to a common brief. You will be able to test out your chosen subject and develop your experience and confidence within this area, while building up a body of work for your application onto a higher course.
