This programme has a broad base, which enables learners to gain understanding, knowledge and skills across the diverse range of graphic design disciplines. The course comprises a teaching and learning partnership; study is fully supported through tutorials and tutor review to facilitate individual skill development. Learners are equipped with professional graphic practices to develop a portfolio of work to support progression on the Extended Diploma and thereafter on to Higher Education or employment. Individual and group based practical assignment briefs (simulative and live) give learners the opportunity to utilise and integrate traditional and electronic skills and techniques to develop a diverse range of creative outcomes. Briefs cover a wide range of graphic specialisms including Packaging, Typographic Design, Advertising, Corporate Identity, Information Graphics, Illustration and Photography. Learners also study a contextual studies unit.
