Advanced Calligraphy

UPDATED 20160902 15:01:27

The course will study and compare the work of two twentieth century calligraphers, Rudolf Koch and Hans Joachim Burgert, and the energetic scripts they developed. Styles will be used singly and together to provide contrast and drama. Associated disciplines, such as layout, colour work etc. will be an important adjunct to the course; learners will be expected to apply and extend techniques already learned. Participation in class and group discussions and the completion of homework and set tasks will be considered an important part of the course. This course is intended for learners who already have experience of several writing styles and related techniques so are considered advanced learners or improvers. They should be aware of the commitment required to obtain good results and be prepared to spend time in self development.
