This course is aimed primarily at absolute beginners, but learners with a little experience who wish to try this style for the first time may also be accommodated. The course will concentrate on understanding materials and the acquisition of basic techniques. At the same time, a short study of the history of western writing will take place with the particular focus on the emergence and development of the italic style. Disciplines related to calligraphy , layout, colour and decoration, will also be studied. Good learning habits are encouraged with set mini-projects and group activities; all with the support of the tutor and in relation to the learners individual progress.
